Welcome to the Rackspace Cloud! My name is Dave P, how may I help you?
John Boker: Hi, i was talking to support yesterday about forcing ssl on an asp.net site
John Boker: i asked him to open a ticket, but i dont see one in the control panel
John Boker: i have the chat log, i'll put it in my pastebin and send you the link
Dave P: Sure
John Boker: http://pastebin.antiyes.com/index361.html
Dave P: Thanks for holding. That documentation should be everything you need to get your site's ssl forced. Unfortunately we don't provide coding support; I can create a ticket so a windows admin may be able to provide some insight as to why it's not working, but cannot guarantee anything especially since we won't be able to replicate the issue without affecting your production site.
John Boker: The problem is that when i put that in it doesnt work, it says the server does not support it
John Boker: i get a 500 error on the server
Dave P: A 500 error usually results from a misconfiguration in the web.config
Dave P: I'll create this ticket for you
John Boker: right, it says that the rewrite section cannot be used because it's missing the configuration section
John Boker: that configsection should be in some global .config file on the server
Dave P: we have rewrite modules installed on the iis server. two in fact, an isapi and the default
John Boker: the error that i get is when the IIS urlrewrite module is not installed
John Boker: does anyone use it?
Dave P: Sure lots. We have many users who utilizes the iis rewrite just fine.
John Boker: could i see a working Web.config file
Dave P: Sorry, we host thousands of sites, there really isn't a way to search for one with one that is functional at the moment.
John Boker: ok, you cant help get this working then
John Boker: have a nice day
